Catch problems early.

Most HVAC problems start small, and they often show up in the readings first.

Condenser

Superheat and subcooling.

These two readings are how the refrigerant charge is read.

Superheat and subcooling Refrigerant charge
How far the refrigerant is from changing state, which is how the charge is read.
Compressor current
How hard the compressor is working, in amps.
Outdoor fan current
How hard the fan on the outdoor unit is working, in amps.
Line voltage
The voltage supplied to the outdoor unit.
Run capacitor health
The condition of the capacitor that keeps the compressor and fan motors running.
Compressor start
Whether the compressor starts when it is called to run.
Contactor
Whether the switch that starts the outdoor unit is wearing out.
Short-cycling
Whether the compressor is turning on and off too quickly.
Suction pressure Low side
Pressure in the line returning refrigerant to the compressor.
Liquid pressure High side
Pressure in the line leaving the outdoor unit.
Suction line temperature
Temperature of the refrigerant on its way back to the compressor.
Liquid line temperature
Temperature of the refrigerant leaving the outdoor unit.
Outdoor ambient temperature
The outside air temperature at the unit.
Condenser coil
Whether the outdoor coil is dirty or blocked, from the liquid line and outdoor temperatures.

Furnace

Temperature rise.

How much warmer the air is after the furnace heats it.

Temperature rise Delta-T
The difference between the air leaving the furnace and the air coming back.
High-limit and auxiliary limit switches
The safeties that shut the burners off if the furnace overheats.
Flame rollout switch
The safety that shuts the burners off if flame rolls out of the burner area.
High fire and low fire
Which heating stage is on.
Gas valve
Whether the valve that feeds gas to the burners is open.
Hot surface igniter
The part that lights the burners.
Flame sensor
Confirms the burners lit and keeps them running safely.
Pressure switch
The safety that confirms combustion air is flowing before the burners light.
Inducer motor and inducer capacitor
The fan that pulls combustion air through the furnace, and the capacitor that runs it.
Blower motor and blower capacitor
The fan that moves air through the house, and the capacitor that runs it.
Return air temperature
Temperature of the air coming back to the furnace.
Supply air temperature
Temperature of the air leaving the furnace.
Air filter condition
Whether the filter is restricting airflow.

The HALO Report

Every month.
In plain English.

A monthly email that sums up how the condenser and furnace are doing.

  • Health

How the condenser and furnace readings came out.

  • Alerts

Anything that went wrong, and when it cleared.

  • Load

    How often the equipment ran.

  • Outlook

What to plan for, like a capacitor nearing replacement.

Made for both sides of the service call.

For contractors.

A way to watch customer condensers and furnaces.

For homeowners.

A way to see the same readings for your own system.
